Christa Wolf
Christa Wolf, novelist, essayist, and literary critic, is one of the most celebrated authors in Germany. She was born in Landsberg/Warthe (Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland) in 1929 and moved with her family to Mecklenburg in 1945. She studied literature at the universities of Leipzig and Jena, and then worked as an editor for various publishers and literary journals in former East Germany. She lives in Berlin.
