Alex Capus
Alex Capus was born in France in 1961. He studied history and philosophy in Basle and now lives in Olten, Switzerland, where he works as a freelance writer.

Founded in 1956 by Wolfgang Schaffler, Residenz started originally with coffee table books, books on the arts, and non-fiction. Since the 1960s it has been publishing contemporary Austrian fiction, and in the 1980s the programme was extended to include international literature. Today the list contains literature and non-fiction, books on music, Salisburgensia and the Official Almanach of the Salzburg Festival. Authors include H.C. Artmann, Thomas Bernhard, Peter Handke, Barbara Frischmuth, Franz Innerhofer, Peter Henisch, Michael Krüger, Markus Werner, Robert Creeley, William Gass, Anne Hébert and Helen Humphreys.
