Prizes for nbg titles Schlegel-Tieck Prize 2007
Warm congratulations to Sally-Ann Spencer and Anthea Bell.We are delighted to inform our readers that Sally-Ann Spencer, editor of new books in german from 2003 to 2005, has been awarded this year’s Schlegel-Tieck Award for her translation of Frank Schätzing's The Swarm.

The runner-up for the 2007 Schlegel-Tieck Prize is another novel featured in new books in german. Vienna by Eva Menasse is translated by Anthea Bell, a frequent contributor to new books in german and member of the editorial committee. The translation is published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson - see also our review from Spring 2005.
Both titles were originally published by Verlag Kiepenheuer & Witsch, Cologne.
The Schlegel-Tieck Prize was instituted by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1965 for the best translation in the United Kingdom of a “work of literary merit and general interest”.
