André Kubiczek was born in Potsdam, formerly in the GDR, in 1969. He studied German language and Literature in Leipzig and in Bonn. In 1997 he was awarded the Brandenburg scholarship and in 1998 the Alfred-Döblin-Scholarship of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin. He now lives in Berlin as a freelance writer.
