Jörg Magenau was born in Ludwigsburg, Germany in 1961. He studied Philosophy and German language and Literature in Berlin, then worked as a journalist for several nationally read newspapers like Freitag, Wochenpost and tageszeitung. In 1995 he was recipient of the Alfred-Kerr-Prize for his contributions to literature in the German weekly Freitag. Since 1999 Jörg Magenau has been writing for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
