Jörg Magenau

was born in Ludwigsburg, Germany in 1961. He studied Philosophy and German language and Literature in Berlin, then worked as a journalist for several nationally read newspapers like Freitag, Wochenpost and tageszeitung. In 1995 he was recipient of the Alfred-Kerr-Prize for his contributions to literature in the German weekly Freitag. Since 1999 Jörg Magenau has been writing for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

From its foundation immediately after World War II, Kindler's vision of tolerance and respect for individual freedom was realised in its lists.
