Thomas Brussig

born in 1965 in East Berlin, studied sociology and drama. 1995 saw the publication of his novel Helden wie wir (Heroes Like Us), which was translated into many languages and made into a film by Leander Haussmann. Following Am kurzeren End der Sonnenallee in 2004 – which was also made into a film, his major reunification novel Wie es leuchtet (‘How It Shines’) was published, prompting Matthias Matussek of Der Spiegel to hail him as the ‘Balzac of Prenzlauer Berg’.
