Werner J. Egli
was born in 1943 in Lucerne. He has made his name throughout the German-speaking countries with his many successful adventure novels for young readers, a number of the most recent of these being set in America where he now spends much of the year living in Tucson, Arizona. His books are also published by Ueberreuter Verlag and Thienemann Verlag.

has specialised in books for children and young people since the 1950s, making it one of the oldest publishers in this field. It is also one of the largest. Its list currently contains some 200 titles, including fiction and non-fiction for children of all ages, to which should be added the 400 titles in the Omnibus paperback list, which are also for children and also in the Bertelsmann group. Authors include winners of prestigious prizes including the German Youth Literature Prize.
