Charlotte Kerner
was born in Speyer in 1950. She studied economics and social science in Germany, then in Canada and China. She returned to Germany in 1979, where she won first prize in a national competition for journalists. She writes regularly on medical subjects for newspapers and journals. Her books for adults and young people include several biographies of famous women. Lise, Atomphysikerin was awarded the German Youth Literature Prize in 1997, while three other titles have been shortlisted for this prize. Her books have been translated into Danish, Dutch, French, Italian, Japanese and Korean.
