Translator and academic Susan Pickford on her new guide to translating for the publishing sector

Sheridan Marshall spoke to the translator and academic, Susan Pickford, shortly before the publication of her latest book. Translating Books for Publication will be out on 8 September, and the Trinity Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation at Trinity College, Dublin is hosting an online conversation with Susan Pickford on the same day. The free event will focus on the business realities of translating for the publishing industry.

German Book Prize 2026 – the nominations

The jury for the German Book Prize 2026 has nominated 20 novels. Since the call for submissions went out, the jury has reviewed 205 titles published between October 2025 and September 2026. As the official English-language media partner, we are delighted to publish the list of nominated books.
