Annette, Ein Heldinnen Epos / Epic Annette

The incredible life of a true hero of the twentieth century. What a life! Born in 1923 in Brittany, a member of the communist youth organisation and of the resistance during the Second World War, Annette de Beaumanoir saved two Jewish children and received the ‘Righteous Among the Nations’ distinction from Yad Vasdhem. Because of her participation in the Algerian war, she was sentenced to ten years in prison. She broke free after an incredible escape, and was part of the Ben Bella government before fleeing to Switzerland where she worked as a neurologist. The epic life of Anne Beaumanoir is brilliantly told by the French-German author Anne Weber and gives the reader the reassurance that true heroes still exist.

A real joy to read from beginning to end.
